Background

A half semester long project completed by a group of three people. The goal of the project was to create a gearbox to fit in the pre-built vehicle. The gearbox had to help the car complete two different challenges: a top speed challenge and a hill climb challenge. This project helped me develop my designing skills under constraints, CAD skills, and my calculation skills to do with gear ratios.

The Project

The gearbox designed is a 1-stage, shifting gearbox with one set of gears designed to maximize torque and another to maximize wheel speed for the hill climb and top-speed events, respectively. The design met all the design and printing constraints. Below is a slideshow of screenshots of the top speed event gearbox setup that I created in CAD.
